Dr. M. K. Sharma is working in the field of Environmental Hydrology specially Water Quality since last 30 years. He has worked at different position viz; Scientist Incharge, Senior Administrative Officer, Finance Officer and Purchase Officer in National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India, Dept. of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. Presently he is working as Scientist F in Environmental Hydrology Division at NIH, Roorkee. His area of research interest are various aspects of environmental hydrology including Emerging contaminants, adsorption kinetics, ground and surface water quality assessment, pollution assessment through aquatic sediment, groundwater modelling, contaminant transport modeling, lake water quality, natural contamination in water bodies, statistical processing of water quality data, meltwater chemistry etc. He has published more than 100 research papers in International and National Journals viz; Journal of Hydrology, Hazardous Materials, Water, Air, and Soil Pollution, Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, Science of Total Environment, Hydrological Processes, Applied Water Sciences, etc. He has worked in many committees constituted by Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt. of India for investigating pollution problems of India and participated as an expert in various committees constituted by different organizations viz; BIS, CWC, CPCB, IIT, Roorkee, PEC, Chandigarh, IRI, Jal Sansthan, Uttarakhand, Gurukul University, Haridwar. He has guided four Ph. D. thesis and guided many Dissertations of M. Sc./M. Tech. Students and is the reviewer of many International/National Journals. He has visited UNESCO-IHE, Delft, The Netherlands and Cranfield University, Cranfield, UK on the Govt. of India assignment. Dr. Sharma has organized a number of Training Courses and involved in organization of National & International Conferences. Dr. Sharma has completed a number of Research Projects and Consultancy Projects in the field of Water Quality sponsored by different organizations. Presently he is working on DST NWO Consortia “Changing the fate of the Hindon river by evaluating the impact of agriculture on the water balance: Developing a template for a cleaner Ganga river” in collaboration of IIT Kanpur and Dutch Group (Wageningen University & Research, Utrecht University and Deltares, The Netherlands) sponsored by Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. Dr. Sharma has wide field experience and has participated in the joint expedition team to Dokriani Bamak glaciers and Gangotri glacier in Uttarakhand, India.
