Dr. Prasanta Kumar Sahoo is a Scientist D in the Environmental Hydrology Division at the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Roorkee, India. He obtained his M.Tech from Department of Metallurgical Engineering & Materials Science from IIT Bombay and a joint Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the IITB-Monash Research Academy, IIT Bombay (India) and Monash University (Australia). He also pursued a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University (NTU) and the Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences (IAMS), Academia Sinica, Taiwan. His research interests include Nanotechnology, Analytical environmental chemistry, Water and Wastewater Treatment, Removal and sensing of Trace Contaminants, Hybrid Adsorbents, Electro-Chemical methods for contaminated water and soil. He has authored 83 international publications and 7 book chapters, with more than 2280 citations (h-index: 25, i10-index: 44). Dr.Sahoo serves as an active reviewer for more than 30 international journals, an Editorial Board Member of Nature’s Scientific Reports, and a Guest Editor for Discover Applied Sciences, Materials Today Proceedings, and Frontiers in Energy Research. He has received several awards and fellowships, including the Best PhD Thesis Award (IIT Bombay, 2016), the DAAD Scholarship for M.Tech Thesis in Germany (2009–2010), and the Postdoctoral Fellowship (NTU & Academia Sinica, Taiwan), and Young Scientist Award (Bio-heal 2025, IIT Roorkee. Dr. Sahoo has extensive international research exposure of working in Germany, Australia, Taiwan, USA in various environmental Nanotechnology research domains. Currently, he is focusing on multifunctional nanomaterials for the detection and remediation of inorganic and organic pollutants in water. Dr. Sahoo is a Life Member of the Indian Water Resources Society, a Member of the International Water Association, and a Member of the Society for Materials Chemistry (SMC).
