About

Dr. Soumyaranjan Sahoo has been working as a Scientist in the Surface Water Hydrology Division of the National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee, since August 2023. His research areas include process-based model development, hydrological modelling, flood hydrology, surface water-groundwater interaction modelling, and climate change impact assessment on water resources. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Research Institute for Geo-Hydrological Protection–National Research Council (IRPI – CNR), Italy. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 2021. The title of his thesis is “Hillslope-based Surface Water-Groundwater Interaction Modelling for Land Use and Climate Change Impact Assessment”. He holds an M. Tech in Water Management from IIT Kharagpur, and a B. Tech in Agricultural Engineering from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology. He has six international publications, three book chapters, and twelve international conference presentations, including AGU, ASCE, EGU, and ISH annual meetings. He is a reviewer to many international journals in water sector, viz., Water Resources Research, Journal of Hydrology, Scientific Reports, Nature, Water Resources Management, and Hydrological Sciences Journal. His research motto is ‘Science and Technology for the betterment of common people’.
