Scientist 'F'
Deltaic Regional Centre, DRC, NIH, Siddrtha Nagar, Beside RTA Office, Kakinada-533003 Beside RTA Office
Shri R. Venkata Ramana is presently serving as Scientist ‘F’ at the Deltaic Regional Centre (DRC) of the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Kakinada, where he is actively engaged in advanced research and applied studies in Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering. With more than 20 years of professional experience, he has made significant contributions to both scientific research and practical problem-solving, particularly in the area of urban stormwater management. He obtained his Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) College of Engineering, Kukatpally, Hyderabad, and later earned his Master of Technology in Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering (HWRE)from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, one of India’s premier institutions for engineering and scientific research. His strong academic foundation has enabled him to effectively integrate theoretical principles with real-world hydrological applications. His principal areas of expertise include urban hydrology, rainfall–runoff modelling, stormwater management, and time-series analysis using soft computing and data-driven techniques. Throughout his career, Shri R. Venkata Ramana has played a key role in numerous hydrological investigations, urban flood mitigation studies, and studies on the impacts of climate change on urban floods. His work has been particularly focused on urban, coastal, and deltaic regions, where hydrological processes are highly dynamic and sensitive to both natural and anthropogenic influences. In addition to his research and technical contributions, he has been actively involved in technology transfer and capacity-building initiatives, with a strong emphasis on the practical dissemination of scientific knowledge.
