JAGADISH PRASAD PATRA is working as a scientist-E at National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee for more than 14 years. His primary research is focused on flood inundation modelling and flood risk management, flood plain zoning, design and modelling of drainage systems, hydrological modelling, Extreme value Analysis, water availability analysis etc. Obtained specialized training on “Flood Risk Management” at IHE Delft, with fellowship from the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Served as committee member to National Green Tribunal for demarcation of flood plains of Yamuna river at Agra and involved in flood plain zone delineation of river Ganaga from Unao to Balia and other rivers in UP. He has also provided flood protection and drainage plans for various nuclear and thermal power projects in India. Reviewed design flood for more than 25 dams and assessed the possible flood hazard due to dam failure for more than 10 dams. He was in the team of hydrologic and hydraulic design of more than 65 railway and road bridges for Char-Dham rail connectivity projects, riverfront development project of Brahmaputra at Guwahati, Vishwamitri at Vadodara; Hydrological studies for Kishau dam etc.
