About

Sukant is a Hydrologist and Geospatial Analyst currently serving as a Scientist-C in the Surface Water Hydrology Division of the National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. With over a decade of professional experience, he has worked in diverse roles as a researcher, consultant, mentor, and engineer with leading national and international organizations. His core expertise lies in hydrological modeling, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), flood and drought mapping, advanced surveying techniques, hydrological parameter retrieval using geospatial analysis, and the application of Python for water resources management. He has authored and co-authored several publications in reputed peer-reviewed national and international journals and conference proceedings. Sukant’s research interests include climate change impact assessment, development of cloud-based and desktop-based decision-support models and tools, soil erosion analysis, hydrological modeling, land-use and land-cover dynamics, and the effective use of open-source technologies and datasets for operational hydrology.
