About

Dr. Y. Siva Prasad was awarded Ph.D. in the field of ‘Water Resources’ from ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad’ (JNTUH), Telangana, in December 2018. His doctoral research, titled “Geohydrological and Groundwater Modeling Studies in a Khondalitic Aquifer” focused on integrated hydrogeological and numerical modeling approaches in the khondalitic terrain of Northern Parts of Eastern Ghats of India. He completed his M.Tech. in Water and Environmental Technology in 2011 from JNTUH, with a thesis entitled “Resistivity 2D Imaging in Granitic and Basaltic Terrain of Andhra Pradesh, India. Presently, he is working as ‘Scientist-C’ at the Deltaic Regional Centre (DRC), National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Kakinada. Previously, he served as ‘Research Scientist’ in NIH, and involved in implementing activities of the National Hydrology Project (NHP) and involved in carrying out in-house Purpose Driven Studies (PDS) under NHP of the DRC. Dr. YS Prasad worked as ‘Senior Research Fellow’ in a DST-funded project at JNTUH, where he carried out detailed hydrogeophysical investigations and groundwater flow modelling in the typical khondalitic terrain of Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Prasad has nearly 15 years of professional experience in the field of water resources, with specialized expertise in groundwater studies. His field experience includes geophysical investigations (multi-electrode electrical resistivity imaging (2D/3D) and induced polarization tomography surveys) to delineate groundwater potential zones and causes of bore well failures, pumping tests to estimate aquifer parameters and well logging studies for aquifer characterization. His expertise also encompasses hydrogeochemistry and stable isotopes for identifying the salinity sources in the deltaic regions of Andhra Pradesh. At present, he has published several research papers in peer-reviewed SCI-indexed international journals and book chapters.
